One concept we kept in mind while developing this new line was keeping it simple, so we could keep our manufacturing streamlined, efficient and economical. Having the material on hand, keeping the manufacturing process straightforward and offering our product at a sensible price feels like the American way. This collection is offered in select grade, plain sawn white American oak. It comes in a range of tones, light, medium and dark, and all boards are 7 inch widths with each color priced the same.

Manhattan Forest Products Flooring is the natural choice for the finest hardwood flooring in America. MFP Flooring is a full service mill and lumber supplier, which has the capacity to produce and ship solid wood flooring, reclaimed wood flooring, custom molding, sawn and hand hewn beams, architectural millwork and a wide range of other wood products to customers all over the world. As a custom mill, our design team has the flexibility to produce wood products to a client’s exact specifications.

In addition to our high quality solid wood flooring we also conserve timeworn artifacts of history by reclaiming and restoring bog oak, heart pine, cedar, hemlock, chestnut, redwood, and other antique hardwoods found at historical locations used in handmade flooring. Several of our products are made from reclaimed Coney Island Boardwalk, and many other historic New York construction projects.

AIA Continued Education Courses from MFP

AIA Continued Education Courses from MFP

If you are an architect in New York and would like to learn more about our products, please make arrangements to attend our AIA/CES course tomorrow 5-08-13 at 1:00 to 2 pm.

Course title:  Reclaiming the New York Skyline
Course desc: The New York City skyline is legendary for its skyscrapers, architecture and the water towers on nearly every building over six stories tall. The water towers started to appear in New York City in the 1800’s as a way to bring water to upper floors in taller buildings. The redwood tanks were built and installed by barrel makers during that time. Each tank was held together with only steel straps with no adhesive to keep the contents pure. Each tank has a life span of approximately 40 years. These timeless structures are a signature of New York just like Central Park. Now we reclaim that redwood and upcycle it into many other products.

The Evolution of a White Floor Sample

Because we are a full service mill, our customers often ask us to create a custom finish or have a new idea for their flooring. Each clients needs are unique so we want to give them the attention they deserve.

Our client has a beautiful home in Florida and asked us to start with a white oak floor, make it whiter, grayer, but still with some grain. Our craftspeople accepted the challenge and started down the path of making samples for the client to review. Below is where we went and how we got there.

It took some time to get it right, because everyone sees things in their minds eye a different way. The floor underneath these samples is our standard white oak floor. As you can see, we went through quite a few versions of this, to interpret the customer’s ideas. The best way to do it some times is go to extremes. On one end, we have a vibrant white that almost wipes out any indication of wood grain. We then take it in another direction to go gray. Ultimately, we take cues from our clients and we end up with a stunning result, all natural oils, not paint, non-toxic, environmentally friendly finishes that will last.

DIAMOND WHITE

Our client ultimately selected our newest white oak finish called Diamond White. It has just enough gray and white with grain showing through. We were able to create an additional finish below, which is also a very beautiful look for white oak.

DOVE WHITE

RUSTIC MOUNTAIN

If you like these finishes, come visit us at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show Booth #480. We are debuting some real ground breaking designs in a crowded world of reclaimed wood flooring.

Manhattan Forest Products at The Architectural Digest Show

The Architectural Digest Home Design Show was a great success for Manhattan Forest Products, not only did we have a well received launch of our new products, but we participated in making a fantastic bar for the show lounge. Who doesn't want to save our forest's for future generations. It only makes sense to upcycle materials a bygone era.

In addition to our hand made flooring, our booth featured a hand made live edge walnut table with hand made Coney Island Boardwalk beams.

Manhattan Forest Products creates beautiful one of a kind flooring in a variety of woods, and styles reclaimed from many different projects in New York.
