The Evolution of a White Floor Sample

Because we are a full service mill, our customers often ask us to create a custom finish or have a new idea for their flooring. Each clients needs are unique so we want to give them the attention they deserve.

Our client has a beautiful home in Florida and asked us to start with a white oak floor, make it whiter, grayer, but still with some grain. Our craftspeople accepted the challenge and started down the path of making samples for the client to review. Below is where we went and how we got there.

It took some time to get it right, because everyone sees things in their minds eye a different way. The floor underneath these samples is our standard white oak floor. As you can see, we went through quite a few versions of this, to interpret the customer’s ideas. The best way to do it some times is go to extremes. On one end, we have a vibrant white that almost wipes out any indication of wood grain. We then take it in another direction to go gray. Ultimately, we take cues from our clients and we end up with a stunning result, all natural oils, not paint, non-toxic, environmentally friendly finishes that will last.

DIAMOND WHITE

Our client ultimately selected our newest white oak finish called Diamond White. It has just enough gray and white with grain showing through. We were able to create an additional finish below, which is also a very beautiful look for white oak.
